Winter and Mugs

Two years ago today we drove to Connecticut to look at a rescued litter of half corgi pups.  The woman said to her co-worker "They've come to look at 'Stella'."  We took one look at a very small pup in the back of the stall and said, "No, we've come to take 'Stella' home."

We quickly renamed 'Stella' Winter. (We had no desire to be calling "STELLA!" after a lost pup.)   She has been a delight to us ever since.

These are the daffodils she posed among that first day.

It's a far cry from the day we brought her home.  That week end was abnormally warm, but we generally have a few blooms by now.  Not this year!

I have written about starting a group on Facebook to be called Monday Mugs.  That was before I found a terrific group called Mugshot Mondays.  It would be redundant to start another page with the same subject.

This is a pair of mugs I did with decoration inspired by Mucha.  Proge has adopted the one on the left as a beer mug.  I gave him a choice after I broke a favorite beer glass.  He likes the narrow opening and the way the clay is thick enough to keep the beer cool.

Go over to Mugshot Mondays on Facebook to see a lot of interesting mugs.  I still find much of Facebook confoosin'; eventually I will get the hang of it, but really, I like my blog better!

The weather has gotten cold again.  The high today was 30F..  It's predicted to go down to 12 tonight and be cold agin tomorrow.  Hopefully things will start warming up a a bit in a few days.

Enjoy spring, if it has come.  As always, thanks for stopping by........*s*

    1. Hi Willow....Those of us in the north east have certainly had our share of winter this year. Going outside and speaking sternly to Mother Nature doesn't do any good, but it sure feels better.
Having a pup name Winter means there is a good thing about winter! (groan)

    1. Hi Linda.....Thanks. We have no idea who her daddy is. Most likely some small breed with a curly tail!

  3. Dearest Suzi,
What a lovely tiny Winter and it shows that they have so much gratitude for being given a forever home with lots of love!
Those mugs are very special and Proge has some good points there.
Enjoy what you are doing and hope the cold spell will be your last one. We had frost on Thursday night and Sunday and today + tomorrow lots of rain...
    Hugs,

    1. Hi Mariette.....Thanks. I thought Georgia was to be a lot warmer than N.E. at this time of year!
It was 14 this morning; it's supposed to warm up and rain tomorrow.

  4. What a winter this has been, ice here today. I have had some flowers, but today I worry they will be like the ground hog and head back to bed.
    Good mug choice.
    Sweet pup.
    Here's to spring! Come on!

    1. Hi Carolyn....Winter is a sweetie. She's still shy, but that's because she doesn't see a lot of people. She's great with us.
I think of my mugs as being for coffee or tea and am aways surprised when they hold a bottle of beer with room to spare!

  8. Hello honey
I so appreciate your advice about my depression. I of course had to google everything you mentioned and will certainly try to get me one of those Sad Lamps. In this amazing world of blogging you learn something every day. I am just really mad at myself for not posting sooner about being so depressed. It really had me down and having friends like you certainly has helped me feel better.
Love love your sweet Winter. This post put a big smile on my face I love that you fell in love the minute you saw her.
Your mugs are truly awesome. I miss doing my ceramics and selling my wheel when my husband left was really hard for me.
I am not good with facebook but like you I hope to get better. Look me up under Maggie Mallard so I can see more of your delightful mugs.
I am trying to figure out how to start up my Temptation site again where artist like yourself can sell their pieces and not have to pay a fee like on Etsy. I need to do it and not just think about it.
We are lucky today the weather is warm this afternoon but wind blowing 25mph so can't do too much outside but I have been out and it does help me.
Take care and sending you warm wishes for spring to come soon.
    Love ya
    Maggie

    1. Hi Maggie....I think women are like that. We too often fall into the mind set of not wanting to bother anyone with our problems. And why are we surprised at the outpouring of help when we ask for it? Life's little mysteries!
Thanks for the kind words about my mugs.
Your Temptation site sounds great; I hope you find a way to do it.
It's a bit warmer today; toes crossed that it continues to get warmer!
      Take care......*s*

    1. Hi Gary.....Thanks. We're thinking of banning all words to do with cold and frost! That should help!

  10. You made me laugh! Yes, shouting "Stella" through the hood might raise a few eyebrows. "Winter" suits her. Glad you all found each other.

Your mugs are lovely and whimsical. I finally got over here after a long hiatus to see what you are doing. Thank you so much for your visits to my blog. I always smile to see a comment from Smartcat!
